ilovetrains showed up. What else do you want?
21J vs. Asian 2836 - Noob Sub

I am looking at Timeshopnets Noobfactory 2010 promotion and looking specifically at the RO6524 and RO4319. I am leaning toward the 21J movement based upon price $45 and $62 vs. $93 and $134 respectively.

So basically I am trying to figure out just how bad the Asian 21J movement is. Or the alternative question, is the 2836 worth double the price?

If it makes a difference, this will be for me to wear basically daily, in the shower, pool etc. (they claim it is waterproof...). It will get torn up, banged up, etc.

Thanks for the replies.

The watches may be advertised as water resistant, not water proof. I'd confirm that before swimming or showering Trains.

My .02 on the movements.. (and keep in mind I'm just a noob with a high post count) is the $93 one will be the best value for you. The movement will be more reliable, have a longer power reserve and will have a smoother sweep than the 21j version. Good luck with whatever you choose and post lotsa pics.

The 2836 movement will also, in many cases, have a better crystal, hands, dial, end links, etc. It's not always the movement alone that increases the price.
The 21J is a good reliable movement, but will be "tickier" than gen.
NO rep can go near the water until you have it tested. The rep dealer will lube the gaskets and then it SHOULD be water tight, but these things can leak from many other places.
